Data Upload

Uploading data to PlastiTrax Finder is designed to be simple, flexible, and efficient. Each sample can be assigned an individual name and supplemented with additional descriptions or metadata before the upload begins, ensuring clear organization of projects and analytical datasets. The upload process is performed in a separate browser tab, allowing multiple files or datasets to be uploaded in parallel while users continue working uninterrupted within the software.

Upload time depends on the internet connection and the size of the data files and may take several minutes for larger datasets. However, the entire process runs securely in the background, allowing users to continue working without interruption. PlastiTrax Finder supports the most common file formats generated by leading microplastic analysis systems, ensuring seamless integration into existing laboratory workflows.

Start Analysis Run

Starting a new analysis in PlastiTrax Finder requires only a few essential parameters. Users first select one of the previously uploaded datasets and assign an analysis name. In addition, the spectral resolution, spatial resolution, filter type (e.g., gold-coated filters, silicone, Anodisc, and other supported substrates), and the measurement mode (transmission or reflection) are specified. These parameters ensure that the analysis is optimized for the respective measurement conditions.

Once all settings have been defined, the analysis is started by clicking Save. The complete data evaluation is then processed automatically in the background, allowing users to continue working on other projects or perform additional tasks without interruption. This asynchronous workflow maximizes efficiency while ensuring reliable and reproducible data processing.

Review Analysis Results

Once the analysis has been completed, all results can be accessed through the Analysis Results section. Here, users can review the complete dataset using the interactive Chemical Map, Particle Table, and Spectral Information panels. A wide range of filtering options allows particles to be sorted or displayed based on parameters such as polymer type, AI confidence, Pearson correlation, particle size, and other analytical criteria, enabling rapid identification of low-confidence or potentially false-positive results.

Every identified particle can be reviewed manually, including its location on the filter, spectral information, and reference spectrum. If required, individual particles can be removed from the final dataset with a single click, ensuring that only verified identifications are included in the exported results. This combination of automated analysis and user-guided verification provides a fast, transparent, and reliable quality control workflow.

Export Analysis Results

With a single click, PlastiTrax Finder exports the final analysis results as two .csv files. The first file contains a complete list of all enabled particles, including only those identifications that have been reviewed and approved by the user. This file provides detailed information for every exported particle and can be used for further data processing or documentation.

The second file provides a concise summary of the analysis, including the particle size distribution and the number of identified particles for each polymer type and size class. This ready-to-use overview simplifies reporting and enables rapid interpretation of the analytical results without additional data processing.
