Combination of optical and spectral Information

Polymer identification

Depending on the particle size, detection occurs with a resolution of 6.25 µm or 25 µm. This flexibility enables precise identification and quantification of the embedded particles, tailored to the specific requirements of your analysis.

Since complete separation of the particles is often difficult, the chemical images are combined with the optical images. This procedure ensures the most precise determination of the number of particles and increases the accuracy of the analysis.

Spectral Quality

The spectral quality of PlastiTrax® tablets is outstanding thanks to the use of KBr. The matrix offers optimal spectral properties in the range of 4000 to 1000 cm⁻¹, making it ideal for the reliable identification of particles. The high transparency and homogeneity of the material ensure exceptional spectral quality, enabling precise and reproducible results.

Why 7 and 13 mm?

| Particle count | Polymer type |  Particle shape

To optimize the use of space and achieve the best possible separation of particles, we utilize different pellet diameters depending on particle size and quantity. Larger pellets with a 13 mm diameter are ideal for higher particle counts and larger particle sizes, while 7 mm pellets are used for smaller quantities and sizes.

By combining optical image data with chemical imaging analyses, we achieve precise identification and quantification of particles, tailored to your specific requirements.

Characterization

Each tablet is analyzed using FT-IR imaging in transmission mode. This allows for precise determination of the exact particle count for each polymer type, ensuring the highest levels of accuracy and reliability.

Embedding the particles in KBr offers the advantage of keeping all particles in a single plane, allowing for optimal focus. Additionally, KBr provides excellent transparency in both the optical and infrared ranges, enabling exceptional spectral quality.
