PlastiTrax® Reference materials
| precise | tablets | user friendly
Our PlastiTrax® reference materials set new standards in method validation and quality assurance. Each tablet is individually manufactured and characterized, with the exact particle count provided for every tablet. By combining multiple polymer types within a single tablet, you save valuable analysis time and benefit from a more efficient workflow – enabled by our patented method.
The size and number of particles can be precisely tailored to your requirements, making PlastiTrax® a flexible and versatile solution for a wide range of applications. Whether for method validation or quality assurance, PlastiTrax® tablets deliver accurate, reproducible results and ensure the highest reliability in microplastic analysis.
"Customize your tablet"
| Particle number | Polymer type | Particle shape
With PlastiTrax tablets, we offer you the ability to tailor your reference materials precisely to your requirements. Whether for method validation, quality control, or testing new sample preparation methods, our tablets can be specifically configured. Choose from various size fractions, polymer types, as well as fragments or spherical beads. Upon request, we can also incorporate special particles, such as fluorescently dyed variants. This flexibility ensures precise and application-oriented solutions, perfectly aligned with your analytical challenges. Additionally, we offer two different tablet sizes, providing the ideal solution even for larger particles or particle quantities.

Quantity
Depending on the number and size of the particles, we offer the tablets in two different sizes:
-
7 mm: For particles <50 µm and lower particle counts
-
13mm: for Partikel >50µm and higher particle counts
In addition, multiple particle sizes and polymer types can be combined within a single tablet!
Why PlastiTrax Reference Materials?
High precision
Each tablet is individually measured, and the particles are quantified.
Reduction of measurement time
Multiple polymer types can be combined in a single tablet.
Water solubility
The tablets dissolve quickly in any aqueous solution.
Continuos quality control
The minimal effort required allows for the implementation of continuous quality control.
Reduction of contaminants
KBr can be heated to up to 700°C, enabling the pyrolysis of contaminants.
Application flexbility
Suitable for use with any analytical method (Raman, FTIR, QCL, etc.).
Optimize, validate, and ensure quality with minimal effort!
How To?
Step 1: Remove the tablet
The delivered PlastiTrax tablets are individually wrapped in aluminum foil to prevent plastic contamination. In the first step, they are carefully removed from the protective packaging to ensure that no external contaminants are introduced into the analysis.
Step 2: Get your infos
In the second step, the specific information about the tablets is retrieved. For each individual tablet, you receive the exact particle count, which has been precisely determined through FT-IR analysis. This data ensures complete transparency and maximum accuracy for your analyses.
Step 3: Sample addition
In the third step, the tablet is either directly added to the sample or dissolved in water, depending on the application. The potassium bromide (KBr) dissolves completely within seconds, releasing the embedded particles, enabling simple and rapid further processing.
Step 4: Analysis
In the fourth step, the recovered particles are compared with the provided reference data after filtration and detection. This comparison enables fast and precise quality control as well as determination of the recovery rate. It ensures that all sample preparation steps have been successfully carried out and that the results meet the highest standards.
